Dr. Gerardo (Jerry) Lugo is a double board-certified dermatologist and Mohs micrographic dermatologic surgeon, specializing in the prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment of skin cancer. With over 35 years of medical experience, Dr. Lugo brings a wealth of expertise and clinical insight to guide his patients in choosing the most effective treatment options. He takes the time to carefully listen to his patients’ desires, concerns, and expectations, collaborating with them to develop personalized treatment plans tailored to their unique needs.

Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Dr. Lugo earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida before returning home to pursue his medical degree at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, where he excelled academically and was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his internship in internal medicine at the University of South Florida Affiliated Hospitals in Tampa and advanced his specialty training at the University Hospital of the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus, serving as Chief Resident.

Following residency, Dr. Lugo joined the faculty at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, where he served as a clinical instructor and later as an assistant professor of dermatology and dermatologic surgery. In 1992, he relocated with his family to Naples, Florida, where he continues to practice. Dr. Lugo is an active contributor to the medical community, with publications in journals, newspapers, and online media. He remains dedicated to educating the next generation of healthcare providers, regularly teaching medical students and physician assistants in his practice. He has been a volunteer at the Neighborhood Health Clinic since its inception, providing free dermatological care to the uninsured and underprivileged in Collier County.

Dr. Lugo, co-founder of Naples Dermatology, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and the Florida Society of Dermatologic Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Society of Mohs Surgery, the Dermatology Association of Radiation Therapy, the Collier County Medical Society, and is on the staff of the NCH System Hospitals.
